Things Of The Mountain And The shade
The project attempts to build an interconnected imagination of diaspora through the overlapping perspectives of two Chinese artists currently living in the Netherlands. By connecting landscapes, myths, ethnography, non-fiction texts, and some images sourced from the Netherlands and China, They translate from text, photos, and prints to different symbolic media in space, constantly weaving and wandering in the gaps between language and non-language.
Yu Wang is a visual artist and painter based in Rotterdam (NL) and Wuhan (CN).
Dachen Bao is a visual artist, filmmaker and researcher based in Rotterdam (NL) and Chongqing (CN). He is also a co-founder of the self-organized CWI 重工所, a research-based collective operating since 2018.
