As an art photographer, Xiao Yu (1986, Wuhan) attempts to use photography to make connections with the world. She aspires to use photographic representations of daily life for documenting and reimagining the relations between urban constructs and nature. In particular, she hopes to discover the transcending moments in day-to-day scenes. As a Chinese immigrant with complex cultural identities, she also works on projects that attempt to break stereotypes by presenting nuances and "capillary connections" across cultures and landscapes. In a broader picture, her photography work casts reflections on the subject of migration and alienation.
