My Mother’s Superstitions
Born and growing up in Germany, everything I know from Vietnamese culture I know from my parents, especially from my mother. Through her superstitions, I could understand her loving and caring nature, even though I'm not superstitious.
In Vietnamese culture, dogs are seen as prosperous and a sign of wealth. On the other side, cats are seen as misfortune. In Vietnamese, a cat is called „mèo“, which rhymes with the word „nghèo“ (meaning poor). This series tries to pay its tributes to the mão and its lunar year.
