Kipblokjes met Pikante Saus

Food as a tool for resistance

"Kipblokjes met Pikante Saus" is a line of products that depict the same image of a Chinese-Indonesian dish called Kipblokjes met Pikante Saus photographed in 2014 by Benjamin Li. From then onwards, he investigates food and foodways linked to the Chinese community in The Netherlands through photographic documentation of the dishes and a collection of take-away menus.

Benjamin Li is a visual artist of Chinese descent, whose parents migrated to The Netherlands to start a Chinese restaurant. He is interested in food culture, foodways, and feelings of home linked to the Chinese migrant community in The Netherlands.
