Nowhere Kitchen

experiences based on the philosophy of cooking with leftovers

The performance art of cooking. The philosophy of leftovers. The improvised game of making something happen with what is there. Through the creative use of leftovers, a theatre based on cooking animates any specific local situation, giving it a global twist. It is inspired by vocabularies of experience of migrant bodies and their embodied knowledge of intuitive fusion and survival.
In 2012, Pepe Dayaw began a performance series in Madrid where he cooked leftovers in private houses of people. After 9 years, this practice evolved into a theatrical show-cooking, a discourse and a form of hospitality that migrated into different places, stages and contexts. In Berlin where Dayaw is based, Nowhere Kitchen has performed leftover cooking in Volksbühne, Sophiensaele, Uferstudios and Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik.
